Can i go to aa if i'm not sober?

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is a 12-step global support system. The only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking. If you've been drinking all day, most AA groups will welcome you with open arms. Alcoholics Anonymous is a community of people who want to recover from their drinking problems.

But can AA make you sober? The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. You don't need to have stopped doing it. Attendance is free, although at some point during the meeting you will be given the opportunity to make a collection for the operation of the group: room rental, tea and coffee, etc. Although the 12 levels of AA are spiritual in nature, AA is not affiliated with any sect, denomination or organization.

As stated in the Twelve Traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous, the only requirement to attend AA meetings is “a desire to stop drinking.”.
