Alcoholics Anonymous is a community of people who come together to solve their drinking problem. Attending A, A doesn't cost anything. There are no age or education requirements to participate.

Membership is open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem. R, R. When practiced as a way of life, they can eliminate the obsession with drinking and allow the person who has it to recover from alcoholism. The Twelve Traditions apply to A, A.

It maintains its unity and relates to the world around it. This booklet describes who A, A, and S are and what we have learned about alcoholism. This brochure answers many of the common questions people have about alcoholism and A, A. Information for people who may have problems with drinking.

It is also useful for those who are in contact with such people. If you repeatedly drink more than you intend or want, you may be an alcoholic. In a study published in the Journal of Addiction Nursing, 55 AA women were sampled and it was discovered that 35% of these women had taken a pill and 29% had felt seduced at least once in an AA environment. It's not mandatory for anyone to do so, but the AA tradition is maintained that when an alcoholic asks for help, AA's help is there.

AA was founded on June 10, 1935, but its origins are said to have started when renowned psychotherapist Carl Jung inspired Rowland H. The meeting begins with the president reading the AA preamble and then leading a group prayer, the Serenity Prayer (abbreviated version). Later, different members of the meeting read sections of AA literature, such as the book Alcoholic Anonymous (commonly known as The Big Book) and Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. There are several ways to determine if AA works and numerous ways to measure whether AA is successful, such as looking at abstinence, reducing the intensity of alcohol use, reducing alcohol-related consequences, the severity of alcohol addiction, and health care costs.
